Board approved instagram for Family engagement
Anyone else miss the exclusive invitation to be part of the ever-engaging Instagram account of Dr. Varley? This spectacular piece of social media was Board approved to keep you feeling like you are part of the community.
What has been made all too clear to me, and other like minded, intelligent folks, is that the person running the show in our district has the most convoluted mindset when it comes to conflict resolution and is completely inept to apologize and recognize that she makes mistakes. Every single time there is an issue brought to her attention there is a story, or some BS attempt to justify her wrongful actions.
The problem: Superintendent takes a bunch of pictures of kids while at school and posts them (without permission) to her personal instagram account, even though the district has an official Instagram, Twitter and Facebook account.
Reasonable solution: When the issue is brought to her attention; an apology and removal of pictures.
Dr. Varley’s solution: Claim that the page is not personal (even though her account information lists her interest and likes), was Board approved and is used for the purpose of “family engagement.”
Does anyone feel engaged by Dr. Varleys personal instagram acount?
I don’t care if the Board approved the account. I don’t care if the purpose of the account is for “family engagement.” What I do care is that she had the opportunity to apologize and leave it at that, but admitting even the simplest of mistakes or flaws has proven to be the ultimate struggle for Dr. Varley.
Adults in our schools can NOT take photos of children and post them on a personal account or even the school account without confirming those children have permission to be photographed and posted.
The concept here is simple, but ultimately lost on someone who’s number one goal has been to promote her image for her personal gain. An abuse of her position as Superintendent.
