Angela Penna’s Struggle Continues
Angela Penna’s most recent response to TAPinto featured two of the following statements:
“Within the school system I have worked at every level of the PTO and have consistently delivered on goals to raise funds, support ideas, and help bridge the communications between the parents and the faculty. This is something I have clearly loved to do. Nobody does this, year after year if they aren’t passionate about it.”
“There is nothing wrong with hearty public debate and discussion, in fact I encourage it, but this must come from a foundation of mutual respect and good intent. There are people in this community who simply want to tear down and criticize. If we do not resist the urge to just vilify and destroy everything that we either don’t understand or don’t like, we will find that we have less tomorrow than we have today.”
Angela’s certainly passionate about hypocrisy. She once again, calls for mutual respect from all and then goes on to disparage parents who seek to “destroy everything.” It would be in Angela’s interest to model this mutual respect to parents – these “select activists” who she claims are out to “destroy everything” have been ignored for the the last 3 years. So she can keep pretending she is the queen of good, but she has failed to identify her behavior and attitude as a Board member are part of the problem.
It should be a red flag to voters when a candidate remarks they have many accomplishments but then refuses to state them. Angela Penna is the only candidate to attack parents in her statements – she would have been more respected had she decided to run on her accomplishments instead of her animosity towards parents. As I stated in my Letter that she had removed, because she felt attacked – when you’re running on a campaign against the parents in this community – you should be very concerned about who you are and why you want to be the voice for all parents.
I am disgusted she has become too comfortable with the vilifying of parents that don’t support or agree with her. The unifying goals for all Board candidates should be collaboration and communication while fully understanding that every person has something of value to contribute to making our schools better. We are stronger and more effective when we value everyones input. As a result, we provide the best support we can to teachers and students.
Perhaps Angela has spent too much time away from where she began.
