Varley, Kot and The Ongoing Obsession with Sai Akiri
Instead of trying to repair yet another mess she has created in our Math program, Dr. Varley appear to be using her time and her staff to continue her strange campaign against Sai Akiri
The District has been using OPRA denials, requests and extensions to seemingly exert some power and even intimidation over parents. It now seems as if the District, and some key Administrative players, are using it to benefit their long-term plans and perhaps to meddle in the recent election.
We have all seen or heard of the email sent from Ms. Julie Kot (Board Secretary/Business Administrator) to Dr. Varley which implicates Ms. Akiri in missing a pre-paid hotel room for the NJSBA conference. We also now know that due to a family health emergency Ms. Akiri couldn’t attend.
For those who haven’t been to the Administrative/Board Offices, adjacent to CMS, you might not know of the proximity in which Ms. Kot and Dr. Varley work – not far, a few steps away on the same floor.
What is striking to me is that Ms. Kot would take the time to draft a well oiled email response to Dr. Varley regarding the missed hotel stay. Why wouldn’t she walk over to her desk and have the conversation in person – it had clearly been a prior conversation, or so the email text would lead one to believe. The reason is all too clear to me – leaking details of this email to community members to OPRA was all too tempting…
The original OPRA Request, made on the morning on 10/27/22 specifically asks for emails from Ms. Kot to Dr. Varley and/or all Board members regarding the NJSBA workshop. Ms. Kot’s responsive email record states NJ State Board Association Conference. So, if you want to get into the technicality of OPRA – the responsive documents have nothing to do with the conference, but a hotel room – so, you can be the judge here on whether you think this was a legitimate exchange or a total hit job to paint Ms. Akiri in a negative light.
You don’t need a legal degree to see what’s going on here, it’s a plain as day.
A word of advice to Dr. Varley and Ms. Kot – instead of having superficial curriculum committee meetings that amount to nothing other than suspect minutes in order to prop up your favorite BOE member’s chances for re-election, fix the Math problem you’ve just made worse.
Instead of spending precious time taking out personal vendettas on one of the two BOE members who actually see your performance for what it is -lacking – use it to help the kids who are struggling because of your new experiment in Math.
