What to look out for during this month’s BOE Meeting..

In the recent months it has been increasingly suspect about how our top Administration goes about handling the business of this district. It wouldn’t surprise me if Dr. Varley has a large spin-wheel in her office and, when she’s feeling so inclined, takes a spin to decide which person, department, group of educators, parents or students to create problems for but completely screwing them over.

At the last Board meeting the resignation of the GL librarian was approved.

On the agenda for this Thursday there is a resolution for the current CMS librarian to cover both GL and CMS libraries.

A fully staffed and funded library is an essential part of the education of all of our students from Preschool through 12th grade.

Another agenda item of interest is the retirement of Assistant Superintendent Mary Beth Kopacz.

The recommendation is to replace this position, the oversight of the k-5 curriculum, with a Director not another Assistant Superintendent. This begs the question, will Dr. Greer now oversee k-12 or will the district remain top heavy with a great focus on 6-12?

There is also a resolution to approve 3 classes in which enrollment is under 10 students. What is not on here is the termination of classes, specifically in world languages, that have been canceled due to low enrollment; all Honors language classes at CMS and French 3 Regular at GL got the axe.

If approved, subscription bussing rates for the following school year will be $1,000 per pupil.

The k-5 district STEAM/STEM teacher is resigning. This is a huge loss to our students.

There are transfers noted for April, given the controversy surrounding transfers during the Budget debacle, it will be interesting to see if BOE Members ask questions about this item.
