Comments on the Affordable Housing News and Littell-Lord Bids
In this clip, 2023 Town Council Candidate Margaret Illis (D) speaks on the Littell-Lord Renovation (agenda item on rejected bids) and on the announcement that the town still has to allow for 30 more Affordable Housing units (a total of 115 additional apartments).
We are going to start with the 09/19/2023 clip on affordable housing, and what residents should be attentive to is that within three minutes, the “expert” and council rejected her ideas for an alternative. When we consider the confusion the 311 Springfield AH Assessment created in a prior meeting, it is reasonable to ask whether the council already has their minds made up on this matter. The important thing for residents to keep in mind is that we do NOT need to build 115 units to satisfy this requirement. The town does not have to hand this over to developers – a point Ms. Illis is exploring in this clip.
John received statements from Ms. Poage and Mr. Varnerin on the Affordable Housing news he will be publishing soon.
The Littell-Lord clip follows about 8-9 minutes in. This clip connects to plans for restoration of the historic site and bids available rejected for coming in too high.
