09/14/2023 Berkeley Heights Public Schools Bill List
Below is a link to the most recent Bill list approved by the BOE during the 09/2023 Meeting. Parents should ask how BOE Members can approve their own legal bills while denying a BOE member a defense on a largely defunct ethics case the BOE Majority was responsible for creating.
This presents a rather significant conflict of interest.
Technically, the ONLY BOE Members that should be allowed to approve legal bills connected to the current ethics issues are Dr. Foregger, Ms. Khanna, and Ms. Bradford.
The District approved $6400 in legal bills on this list for just one month of work and just one firm.
Can you guess which one? That’s right – Cleary, Giacobbe, Alfieri and Jacobs. We will be writing a rather interesting article on their Conflict of Interest saga.
We aren’t sure that’s the whole picture for the month- in looking through the mounds of paper we’ve obtained to find out what is going on, we are starting to believe that the firm may hold the legal bills so they don’t appear so large when presented to the public.
So far, this is how much Cleary, Giacobbe, Alfieri and Jacobs has pulled from the District since 01/2023 based on our review:
$73,000 on just ONE of the District’s Several Firms in 9 months or 23,000 Caterpillars (if you get this, you’ve been reading our shit for far too long). This amount DOES NOT include what we’ve paid the other firms during this time period.
Again, much of this money is voted on by members of the BOE Majority for their defense and in using the Board Attorneys to pursue charges against someone they disagree with.
