BOE Candidate Natasha Joly’s Remarks During Agenda Items Portion of 10/12/2023 BOE Meeting
In this clip, Natasha asks about how policies are approved (later in the meeting, Mr. Cianculli provides a response that assumes the public trusts that the BOE majority and Superintendent are following the written policies).
Natasha brings up the $3800 price tag connected to an AASA conference/training Stephen Hopkins plans on attending.
She also points out that members have repeatedly asked about the results of the DEI climate survey and requested a time frame on disclosure of these results.
Lastly, she points out that the District appears to rely on changes to cut scores (lowered standards) to demonstrate a year-to-year improvement in high school math proficiency and concerns on the reliance on changed cut scores versus actual improvement to show the District is serious in addressing the declines on proficiency tests.
Natasha Joly is one of two candidates running for one of two seats on the Berkeley Heights Board of Education.
