BHCW 05/12/2024 Newsletter
What’s Important to Know About Berkeley Heights This Week….
This week’s newsletter starts by outlining the progress made by the new Berkeley Heights BOE majority regarding the budget, transparency, transportation, and proficiency and points to a deliberate disinformation campaign by both local party machines to drown the progress made thus far
Speaking of disinformation, this week BHCW confirmed and revealed that the Board of Education did not receive ANY list of hazardous roads. A list so many proponents of the old policy referenced in their arguments (including members of Municipal Government) that. did. not. exist. Laura fact-checks other assertions made during the BOE meeting connected to the Courtesy busing debate.
We move to the ongoing dramatics playing out at Town Council as one member questions the system of checks and balances in appointing the Town Administrator as CFO and Qualified Purchasing Agent as the Town Administrator fires back with allegations of the Town Council Member using his office to advance a personal matter.
The newsletter includes the BHPSNJ tentative budget voted on early last week and moves to the continuing battle to save OPRA from another assault by Sarlo, Danielsen, Scutari, Coughlin, and Bucco. The Vote to destroy OPRA is THIS MONDAY (05/13/2024). Please remember to use our #saveOPRA Form To Send Representatives a Message.
As always, we end with our notes for the week.
