Shining A Light on Local Goverment

Laura’s Notes on the Berkeley Heights 05/21/2024 Town Council Meeting Agenda

Update at 5:32 p.m.: The Proposed Salary for the Chief of Police Position is $216,300  – the contract is still in draft form.

The Town Council Meeting will occur tonight, Tuesday, May 21 at 7:00PM

The meeting will start with a conference session dedicated to having an affordable housing update, followed by a presentation from FACT (the Union County Care Management Organization) in honor of Mental Health Awareness Month.

After a citizens hearing following the conference session, the Council will move into business.

The big item of note is the appointment of William Ives as the Chief of Police.  Over the weekend, news was released that the prior Chief of Police had resigned. No salary is listed for the new appointment, but we hope – with hours left before the meeting- this information will be available soon.

We reached out to the Township on Sunday requesting this information.

There is also a resolution for a contract for drainage improvement on Martins Lane, not to exceed $19,990, and two new appointments to the BHFD!
