Parent Expresses Concerns on Activity Fees

Context:

We’ve received reports from parents of graduating students on emails/letters they’ve received in May concerning Activities Fees.

We understand that these collection letters, arriving just two weeks before graduation and summer break, have caused significant concern and anxiety among students and their parents, as we’ve heard from the feedback we’ve received.

When students and parents contacted the CMS principal, reports indicated they had not received a response.

Some high school parents reported they were informed that diplomas would be withheld if the fees were not paid

Many of these parents would like to understand the process and timeline for collecting the activity fees. Many need clarification on the timing of the letters and authorization surrounding their distribution.

An agenda item to approve the activity fees at the May 30th board meeting- the Board voted to keep Activity Fees as prescribed by policy with a request for clarity on the timeline for fee collection.

The following screenshots are emails we received from Ahalya Rekha, a Berkeley Heights Parent on this issue.

Here are screenshots of the communication received.
