Laura’s Notes on the 06/20/2024 BOE Meeting

We expect that remote participation will again be allowed during this meeting and that the public can comment via Zoom. Link can be found here.

ADMINISTRATION

E. Amend SI employment dates. Mr. Nixon will remain on his role as acting SI through September 30, 2024.

F. Amend the acting principal role at GL. Ms. Bartlett will continue in her role through September 30, 2024.
EDUCATION

B. Approve contracted services. Included are linkIt and iReady.

There were concerns surrounding a potential replacement to IReady and potential conflicts of interest if the District proceeded with the purchase.

PERSONNEL

A. Appointment of Director of Elementary Education (added hours before the meeting this afternoon) at $163,000

There is some debate as to whether this position is even needed as there is already an Asst. to the Superintendent position.  This position did not exist prior to 2021 when Dr. Varley added it – BOE Member Robert Cianculli initially voted “No” to the position.

B. Athletic trainer is being hired for $68,193.

As with all positions, this amount does not include benefits. BHPSNJ already has the highest per-pupil cost in connection to Athletics out of the six comparable Districts.

G. Approve resignation of payroll specialist Judith Ramalho.

H. Approve ESSEr funds for teachers’ stipends during the school year and summer Enrichment.

P. Approve resignation of staff: Jennifer Cassidy (TPH), Robert Hoehn (MPs), Connie Lee (science- CMS) and Andrea Sperling (math-CMS)

V. Approval of the Unfiltered club at CMS with an advisor stipend of $1815.

BUSINESS

B. C. Approval of Porzio, Bromberg, and Newman as district attorneys.

D. Approval of Chaudry law for special education.

**Cleary & Giaccobe is nowhere to be seen on this agenda!

It should be noted that these appointments should have occurred during the re-organization meeting. Ms. Penna and the Business Administrator fought tooth and nail to prevent them during the reorganization meeting and during subsequenst meetings. The contracts being voted on are not available in the attachments.

G. Approve transfer of surplus: maintenance $100,000 and $750,000 to capital reserve
