NJ21st 06/23/2024 Newsletter

Our newsletter starts and ends with concerns about the Town Council agenda this week. With a questionable set of decisions surrounding the CFO position and a one-sided narrative on the CMS Field issue- one has to wonder why the Mayor and Council Members focused their efforts on BOE issues they have little to no information on over the past month.

Next up is the 06/20/2024 BOE Meeting, where a request for more information tied to a stipend on Prism has exploded into more political opportunism – as predicted. The club will likely be approved during the next BOE Meeting once more information is obtained by the Board – the stipend does issue does not prevent it from running as it had been. The community discussion has gotten so strange that a former BOE Member now refers to themselves as “the Cassandra” (a prophet). The dangerous trend here is that a BOE voting “no” to get more information is being viewed as problematic, as well as the precedent this may establish.

What is not being talked about are the steps forward that occurred in that meeting connected to what some feel is a critical position being filled, an extension on Mr. Nixon’s term as Acting Superintendent, a resolution on the Summer Curriculum issue, and the replacement of a highly controversial and problematic law firm with more competent Counsel.

The newsletter then moves on to a BHCW position statement on Mr. Nixon’s three Months as Acting Superintendent and a contribution from a community member regarding Ms. Stanley’s social media post about a resident at Starbucks.

We wrap up with news from around the state and notes from the week.
