Arik Samson’s Response to BOE Candidate Question 4: Special Interests, Influence and Money

Mr. Samson’s Response to the Fourth in a Series of Questions to the 2024 Berkeley Heights BOE Candidates

I would like to begin with the fact that I am totally opposed to receiving support from special interests persons or groups (ex. Teachers’ Union).

I have not received any [financial] support from any person or special interest, and have not sought the endorsement of any organization. I want to go into office unencumbered with having to pay back political favors. The only interest I am obligated to as a BOE member is that of students and teachers.

In my mind, as a BOE member, all families will have an equal say, and I will evaluate feedback based on its merits and potential benefit to our district.
