Shining A Light on Local Goverment

Westminster Project Coming Back A Year Later

The Westminster property is back on the Zoning Board agenda for 09/26/2024. The township vetoed the original project, and the builder is returning with a proposed settlement agreement.

Interestingly, it is a meeting connected to yet another significant issue on a Back to School Night, and, unlike the Board of Education – the township does not allow for remote participation.

Concerns with the prior project connected and remains in the minds of many residents include:

  • Environmental impact of clear-cutting
  • Traffic through the addition of more homes
  • Homeowners by the proposed Westminster development are concerned about water runoff from the lack of vegetation buffering.
  • Traffic on that blind curve where cars are merging right where the new road is going to be coming out

2023 Interview with Concerned Residents.

Proponents of the project point to the difficulty the Church has had financially, given reductions in membership.  They feel the project would allow the Church to continue its commitment to opening its doors to other community organizations and activities/access that serve the community.

They also question the significance of the traffic concerns, citing the lack of accidents.

Resident Comments in Favor of the Project- 2023
