I am writing to strongly endorse Dr. Foregger for re-election to the BHPSNJ Board of Education. Dr. Foregger has consistently shown his deep commitment to ensuring responsible budgeting and fiscal transparency within our district, and his recent article on school budget efficiency demonstrates the kind of thoughtful, data-driven leadership that our community needs.
Dr. Foregger raises important questions about the rising costs of education in our district, pointing out that while our school budget has grown substantially, our student proficiency levels and school rankings remain below expectations. He advocates for a clear and thorough analysis of where our budget expenditures are highest and whether these extra costs are truly benefiting our students.
His approach is pragmatic—he looks to data from the state’s adequacy model and the NJ Department of Education’s Taxpayers’ Guide to Education Spending to understand where our per-pupil costs exceed those of neighboring districts. This kind of scrutiny is essential to ensuring that our district remains both fiscally responsible and focused on student success.
What sets Dr. Foregger apart is his ability to balance financial accountability with a commitment to the community’s priorities. He recognizes that while it is necessary to keep budgets in check, it is equally important to involve the community in deciding where our resources should be focused. He suggests a return to community voting on the budget if the 2% cap on property taxes continues to be lifted, ensuring that families have a say in the financial decisions that affect our schools.
Additionally, Dr. Foregger is a strong advocate for greater public involvement in the budget process. His call for more detailed budget information to be shared with the community well in advance of hearings reflects his belief in transparency and open dialogue with stakeholders.
He also emphasizes the need for meaningful community surveys that accurately reflect the budget constraints we face, showing his commitment to thoughtful and inclusive decision-making. Dr. Foregger’s blend of financial insight, transparency, and community engagement is exactly what our school district needs to thrive.
His leadership will continue to ensure that our schools not only use their resources wisely but also prioritize the educational needs of our students. I wholeheartedly endorse Dr. Foregger for re-election to the Board of Education and believe that his focus on fiscal responsibility and community input will continue to drive positive change in our district.
