Questions the Rec Department & Town Council Should Answer Before Asking Our Schools for the CMS Field
The following is an email NJ21st sent to the Recreation Department, Mayor and Town Council…
Good Evening,
Three Areas We would Like More Information On:
Revenue
My understanding is that the recreation department holds events where it takes in revenue on BHSPNJ Property (playground camp for example).
Can you please provide the total amount of NET revenue taken in by the Rec Department through programs that are run on land owned by the Board of Education and maintained by the township? This would include fees for programming, sales of goods (snacks), tshirts etc.
The narrative makes it seem as if the township has been maintaining these grounds with no benefit and we would like to fact check the impression being given.
How much of the money obtained from activities on BHPSNJ property is shared with our schools?
Turf
Has a Non-Turf option ever been discussed with the BOE as having turf installed would seem like a permanent “no going back” option if minds were to change about the property and how it would be used? Having the Turf installed would almost make it a default Rec-Owned property going forward.
The Proposed Agreement Provided to Our Schools
We are again asking for a copy of the agreement so that the public can be fully aware of the terms of the arrangement you are asking them to vote on. Maybe stop negotiations and make the contract part of the information process leading up to the vote so that people can base their votes on a full picture.
Again we are not looking for an infomercial on why you think this is a great idea – we would like clear answers to our questions.
Thank You.
