How many times will Robert Cianculli snicker or Angela Penna whine this year when serious BOE Members raise concerns?

The BOE is poised to vote on the Tentative Budget this Monday and the public has yet to receive a copy of what the BOE will be looking at nor has there been any announcement of a public Finance Committee Meeting promised after last year’s debacle.

If history is any guide, it is doubtful that most BOE members have seen the entire budget – complete with justification mired in the typical web of misinformation from the Administration.

This article is a compilation of articles families may find helpful in getting caught up on the backstory and preparing for this coming Monday’s meeting.

On The 2022 Budget

THE BERKELEY HEIGHTS PUBLIC SCHOOL 2022 BUDGET CONTROVERSY: SYNOPSIS – This article outlines the 2022 Budget Debacle, complete with references. It is a good primer on the budget issue.

THIS YEARS BUDGET PROCESS WAS NOT NORMAL: Former BOE Member and President published email communication sent to the Former and Current BOE President on significant concerns connected to the 2022 Budget Process.

BHCW NIGHT WATCH EPISODE 5: JOHN SINCAGLIA ON BUDGET, ETHICS, TERRIBLE ATTORNEYS & ITALIAN FOOD: John Sincaglia joins the Night Watch crew and discusses the 2022 Budget Process in more depth.

On the 2023 Budget

FISCAL CLIFF? OR MONEY TO BURN?: Shauna shreds the Business Administrator’s theatre, likely intended to justify hiding the Budget or terrible news that will likely be disclosed to the public in 2023.

HOW MANY ADMINISTRATORS CAN FIT ON A FISCAL CLIFF?: More of Shauna Shredding the Business Administrator’s Theatre

EIGHTY-EIGHT PERCENT: HOW THE BERKELEY HEIGHTS SCHOOL DISTRICT’S LEGAL BILLS NEARLY DOUBLED IN A YEAR: At some point during these three articles, the rest of the group decided to host an intervention to help with Shauna’s “I can’t stop shredding the moronic shit this BOE and Administration says” problem.

THE BUDGET, STUPID.: I feel like I make a pretty strong argument to bring the budget back to a public vote as other towns continue to do or have gone back on doing. The idea that getting the Budget back to a public vote would mean “The BOE would punish us by cutting programs while keeping a top-heavy lawyer-addicted administration” can be changed by making the competent minority on the BOE the majority this election.

BUDGET, NEPOTISM & TEXTBOOKS: Sai begins to ask questions of the BOE on the Budget and costs connected to the Superintendent’s ongoing legal issues that continue to burn District Dollars.

BUSINESS AS USUAL: STILL NO BUDGET AND WAITING ON THE PROMISE OF A PUBLIC MEETING: Sai calls out the 2023 Budget process and demonstrates the availability of budgets in other Districts.

I’m sure other articles on the Budget will come out – we have one planned for tomorrow- but this is a good start for the BOE Meeting this coming Monday.
