Saying Goodbye and Thank You to another incredible educator leaving our District
Mrs. Corley,
On behalf of my family, I want to say “Thank You!”
Over our 10 years together we encountered countless fond memories along with a few bumps in the road. But, no matter what the issue was, you always took the time to listen to my concerns, suggestions and feedback.
Although we sometimes agreed to disagree, you understood the importance of building relationships and fostering communication with all parents. You understood the work you were doing, you understood the relationships you were building, and you understood that we were all in this for the children.
For the time and energy you spent with me, and the countless others who have been at MKM, I thank you.
You have created a wonderfully special, supportive, embracing environment and community at Mary Kay McMillin ECC in which students thrive socially, emotionally and are able to build a strong educational foundation.
I have enjoyed my time working with you and getting to know you through my time volunteering with the PTO. I am truly grateful for the energy you put into MKM on the daily, and the love and dedication for your staff and the children that walk through the doors of MKM is truly remarkable.
You, Mrs. Corley, are going to leave a huge void at MKM and within this district.
Upon reading your resignation letter, I can’t help but feel like I wish there was more we, the community, could have done to support you and all of our staff. It saddens me that the theatre we have seen in the public forums from the Board and top Administration clearly continued behind closed doors. The divisiveness and inability of those in charge to understand the damage that has been caused by poor leadership and decision making has lead to so many amazing educators and Principals, like yourself, leaving this district and our children are paying the price. I am speechless to think of what goes on behind closed doors as I have seen emails and Board meetings in which our top Administration and Board members have been condescending, highly unprofessional, disrespectful and flat out rude. Thank you for putting up with it for so long, seeing the downward spiral the district is in I don’t blame you for leaving – it’s not healthy for anyone.
As I bid you farewell, I wish you all the best in your future and thank you, from the bottom of my heart, for everything you have done for me and my children, and for the thousands of kids who have gone through MKM.
Fondly,
Laura Kapuscinski
