Parents Aren’t creating THE “Decorum Issues” at BOE Meetings…

In this six-minute clip, parents and residents can notice:

(1) Ms. Penna consistently interrupting and talking over parents while taking up their 3-minute space while advocating for decorum. While she refuses to answer questions because “BOE Meetings are not a back and forth” she has no problem interrupting parents and taking up their time to speak.

(2) The Attorney attempting to lecture a parent for using the term “nonsense” when the parent accurately described the 3-minute rule as nonsense.

(3) The BOE doubles down on the Attorney’s ability to act as if he is a member of the BOE. You’ll notice that at one point, Ms. Penna looked to the Attorney for help on a matter that had nothing to do with legal issues- it had to do with her decision as BOE President.

(4) After YEARS of parents being able to come up a second time, Ms. Penna and Mr. Cianculli act as if allowing parents only to come up once is entirely normal. Preventing parents from coming up a second time was a shoot-from-the-hip decision by the Penna bloc at one of last year’s final meetings to prevent a representative from the Chinese School from finishing his comment. The Chinese School has since left Berkeley Heights and is now providing its services in New Providence- who can blame them?
