Families who live within 2 miles of their children’s school must notify the District of their desire for bussing by a cut off date.
All children who qualify for the lunch program receive bussing for free.
Families of children who do not qualify for the lunch program are to pay the cost of the service equally.
During this time the Board will work to a more evidence based definition of hazardous routes.
This will include getting a list of roads that the Township Determines as hazardous and a firm commitment from the Township for a corrective action plan on roads in need of sidewalks and crosswalks.
Councilwoman Illis could be the point person for this as she has demonstrated an interest in this area – I have reached out to her asking what plan she already has in place to propose a solution to this problem.
Once those routes are determined and voted on by the BOE, families determined to live on a hazardous route will receive a partial or full refund at the end of the school year.
Next year the payment structure can be calibrated where revenue is more predictable as no refunds will be issued given the District will be working from a firmer list.
All children who qualify for the lunch program, whether they need subscription or courtesy bussing shall receive it for free.
