2024 BHPSNJ Budget Survey Results Released

A New Acting Superintendent and New Finance Chair Deliver on Family Input and Transparency in Connection to the Budget

While it was an imperfect survey, it was the first asking for family input into the budget process.

Not only was there a survey, but the public obtained results without having to submit an OPRA request and then go to court to obtain them.

What is missing are the comments to the survey which would have been helpful to review.

Given the issues connected to teacher to teacher turnover, parent concerns on facilities and issues connected to BTC and COVID learning loss – the top priorities for families should not surprise anyone.

With a 2023 enrollment of ~2400, 578 responses ranges to (minimally) a 20% family participation rate which is excellent and evidence that our families want to be involved.

Additionally, the BOE will be holding a meeting with the specific purpose of providing the public with details on the budget and to gather public input on Wednesday, April 24th.

Unfortunately, zoom access for families to participate will not be available – so please try to make the meeting in person to have your thoughts on the budget heard.

Here are screenshots of the results Mr. Nixon sent out (without spin) a few minutes ago:
